“President Trump’s upcoming Africa Summit confirms what the U.S. Embassy for Peace has built over 15 years: that American mentorship, not aid dependency, is the key to enduring partnerships. Through the Trump Advantage Business Support (TABS) Program, we are ready to match U.S. small businesses, diaspora entrepreneurs, and veterans with African opportunities that return value to the American people.”

USEP Welcomes President Trump’s Africa Summit as a Milestone for Commercial Diplomacy
Washington, D.C. — The U.S. Embassy for Peace (USEP) proudly welcomes the announcement that President Donald J. Trump will host the heads of state from Gabon, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mauritania, and Senegal for a high-level Africa summit from July 9–11, 2025, in Washington, D.C., focused on commercial partnerships and mutual prosperity.
This landmark engagement reflects the very foundation of USEP’s work and the strategic direction of our flagship program—the Trump Advantage Business Support (TABS) initiative. Rooted in 22 U.S.C. § 9904, TABS mobilizes mentorship, trade facilitation, and diaspora investment to promote American business growth in frontier and emerging markets.
“President Trump’s commitment to results-driven diplomacy and commercial opportunity affirms what USEP has championed for over 15 years: mentorship—not foreign aid dependency—is the key to sustainable global partnership,” said Chika Sylva-Olejeme, President of USEP and Chief Mentorship Officer of the American Mentorship and Diplomacy Act (AMDA).
USEP applauds Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s leadership in shifting the U.S. foreign assistance model toward one that emphasizes national interest, embassy accountability, and trade-based diplomacy. The Secretary’s July 1 directive and the implementation of the Economic Diplomacy Action Group (EDAG) align directly with TABS’ mission to connect U.S. small businesses, veterans, and diaspora entrepreneurs to vetted commercial channels overseas.
In recognition of this policy breakthrough, USEP will be:
- Convening a TABS–Africa Roundtable during the summit week to explore bilateral mentorship partnerships with the participating African nations;
- Delivering letters of cooperation to the embassies of Gabon, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mauritania, and Senegal;
- Publishing a special briefing, “TABS Africa 2025–2030: A Civil Society Blueprint for U.S.–Africa Commercial Diplomacy.”
USEP stands ready to serve as a civil society implementing partner under the Department of State’s new foreign assistance architecture and will continue its mission to deliver measurable prosperity for both the American people and trusted international partners.
